About

Alex Snukal’s Consensus Bus is a free bus that runs for 4 hours and will take any passenger wherever they wish to go, provided that all of the other passengers are in agreement. Participants plead their case, and discuss with the other passengers, negotiating and compromising throughout the trip. Where will the bus end up? Only time will tell!

This is a fun and playful participatory artwork that invites the public directly into the performance process. The program host will help to make suggestions, negotiate between participants, and encourage collaboration. Participants only need to bring an open mind and a sense of adventure.

Consensus Bus is part of the 2019 Ontario Culture Days special exhibition, DO BLUE BUTTERFLIES EAT PARTS OF THE SKY?, curated by Dave Dyment. The exhibition is presented thanks to funding from Canada Council for the Arts, Celebrate Ontario, and the Ontario Cultural Attraction Fund.

Participants must be 16 years or older, or be accompanied by an adult.

This production is made in partnership with Ontario Culture Days and the Town of Newmarket.
